As the end of the school year is on the horizon - and what a year it has been ! - against all odds and grateful for the pandemic waning in our area, we were able to hold our first community event since March 2020. What better way to celebrate than with music! Our 3rd through 8th graders had continued practicing and learning their instruments all year and wowed the audience with their performance at our first ever Music Share on the Green, held in the sculpture grove at the Unison Arts Center. Not deterred by the heavy rain only an hour prior, our students played their hearts out in the misty grove with bird song accompanying their music. It was like a dream. Thank you to Mark Bernstein for his vision and for making this happen for the enjoyment of all.

Dear friends Mountain Laurel Waldorf School: It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Marilyn Liebowitz’ passing on April 11th. For over more than 2 decades, until her retirement last year, Marilyn taught the art and soul of clay and woodwork to so many of our collective children at Mountain Laurel school. Making her way around the tables while she helped students shape a wooden spoon that would feel just right in their hand, or form comedy and tragedy masks in cla...y to enliven the 5th Grade Ancient Greece block, she would often share her wonderful stories, dropping snippets of wisdom or fragments of Greek myths as one former student would say. As a well studied anthroposophist, Marilyn helped carry the soul life of Mountain Laurel Waldorf School through her teaching, during College meetings, and seasonal festivals adding her precious collection of crystals to the winter spiral. Marilyn was a mentor to all of us, and particularly, to Tricia McCloskey, who is now faithfully and truthfully carrying the rich Mountain Laurel sculpture program into the future. Master Teacher One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, But with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings, The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, But warmth is the vital element for the growing plant And for the soul of the child. -Carl Young
