During Nurses Week we honor our colleagues EVERYWHERE.... 2020 was designated the Year of the Nurse long before we battled COVID-19. In the past few months nurses and other healthcare professionals across the world have risked their own lives to care for the desperately ill. This is surely the year of the nurse, and doctor, and technician, and maintenance person, and police officer and fireman, and cab driver, and grocery worker and mail/package delivery person. A living legend retires..... Today we celebrate Dr. Jerome Waye, Professor of Medicine and Gastroenterology at the Icahn School of Medicine, a pioneer of modern endoscopy and beloved teacher and friend. Although he is retiring, his presence, his quest for excellence in patient care, his determination to make the science of endoscopy progress to help save lives will always be a part of the Mount Sinai Endoscopy culture. Every nurse, endoscopy technician, and physician who had the privilege to work along side of Dr Waye is a better practitioner for the experience.
