Mt. Hope Family Center 25.01.2021

In Memory of Dr. Fred Rogosch It is with heavy hearts that the TRANSFORM Center and Mt. Hope Family Center (MHFC) share with you that Fred Rogosch, MHFC’s Research Director and our dear friend and colleague, died unexpectedly Thanksgiving Weekend. Fred joined MHFC as a research psychologist/assistant professor in 1989 -- immediately after completing his postdoctoral fellowship at Arizona State University. As we were working with Dante to develop a vision for the Center, Jody,... Carol Ann and I welcomed Fred to our newly formed team. We each were fortunate to form lifelong friendships with Fred. Throughout the past 31 years, Fred has had a major impact on Mt. Hope professionally and personally by mentoring students, junior faculty, and staff, and befriending all whom he met. Fred was a kindhearted and gentle soul with a sharp wit and knowledge of a wide range of subjects beyond his field of study; he could always be relied upon to share interesting anecdotes, words of wisdom and support, a laugh or two, and the tastiest dishes at our staff potlucks. Fred had family and friends in Indiana (where he attended Indiana University as an undergrad), Michigan (where he earned his MA and PhD degrees at Michigan State), and Arizona; he could have returned to any of these places or moved elsewhere, but he chose to remain in Rochester with his MHFC family. Fred has left an indelible imprint on our hearts, Mt. Hope, and the field of developmental psychopathology. A memorial service will be held (via Zoom) on Sunday, February 7 at 1:00pm.
