Hello All .. We hope everyone is enjoying their St. Patrick’s Day whether you are Irish or not Just wanted to give a friendly reminder the shelter is still operating on appointments only. If you are interested in meeting one of our adoptables we kindly ask you fill out the pre adoption form on the web and the information will be forwarded to a staff member that will contact you to schedule , Or you can call the shelter directly and speak with a staff member . Please keep ...in mind the shelter is not fully staffed and you may have to leave a message on the machine . Regarding donations they can be left outside the main door at anytime . We do ask if you are dropping off and need to see or speak with a staff member then please call or email ahead of time. NEW YORK STATEWIDE FIREWORKS TONIGHT! New York state has reached 70% vaccinated and has decided to celebrate by having firework displays all over the stat...e this evening. Please take extra precautions today to be sure your pups stay safe and sound. Historically, there are more pups lost on evenings with fireworks when they are spooked and go into flight mode. *Leave your dog home and inside during fireworks *Provide a safe, cool space for your pet to retreat, frightened dogs prefer small enclosed areas such as a crate. *Keep curtains and windows closed. Turn on AC *Play calm music and leave television on. * If bringing your dog outside to go to the bathroom, make sure they are leashed at all times! *Leave your pet something fun to do as a distraction, such as a stuffed kong filled with their favorite treat. *Make sure your dog is wearing ID tags and properly fitted collars. *Make sure your pets microchip is up to date and a current photo is available should the worst happen. KEEP THEM SAFE!!!

Please help our friend / rescuer / advocate Tara Morales. Her house caught fire yesterday. Her 5 dogs made it out but 2 are very critical and were transferred to Cornell where they are in critical condition. She lost her homing pigeon in the fire as well. Tara helped us when she was with Adopt A Dog , by pulling Boo our deaf dog we had here for almost two years and found her a wonderful home. If you can please donate , and share . His mom is bedridden and it has become extremely difficult to continue to care for him , this has not been an easy decision as she has raised him since 5weeks old including bottle feeding him. Please share with any rescues that can assist . Baby previously lived with a cat and lives with small child. Baby is neutered , she had him microchipped on her own and he has has shots .
