On today's door decoration for Black History Month, Mrs. Young's class celebrates Sojourner Truth. Sojourner Truth was an African American abolitionist and women's rights activist best-known for her speech on racial inequalities, "Ain't I a Woman?", delivered extemporaneously in 1851 at the Ohio Women's Rights Convention. Truth was born into slavery but escaped with her infant daughter to freedom in 1826. She devoted her life to the abolitionist cause and helped to recruit ...Black troops for the Union Army. Although Truth began her career as an abolitionist, the reform causes she sponsored were broad and varied, including prison reform, property rights and universal suffrage. Greetings Munn Families, I hope you and your family are well. My THANKS for the generosity this week from our families as we contributed to the PBJF# and Special Olympics through fundraising efforts. I continue to be appreciative and humbled by the commitment and partnership between home and school in the education of students. As Dr. Kissel shared earlier this month, there are conversations happening daily about how we can return students to school more often while adherin...g to health and safety guidelines. To that end a newly formed K-5 ad hoc committee has been formed to consider and propose increased school opportunities for students in grades K-5. Please look for a K-5 parent survey on Monday that will inform our possible next steps. Spencerport's Pre-K pilot program will be continuing at Munn Elementary in the 2021-2022 school year. On Monday, March 1st, we will open Phase 2 of the Pre-K application process. In Phase 2, Pre-K applications are open to all age-eligible children in the Spencerport School District. More information about the program is available on the District's website. https://www.spencerportschools.org//pre-_kindergarten_pilo An online application will be live on this site on Monday, March 1st. The deadline for all applications is March 26th. Should the number of applicants exceed the number of available spots in the program, a lottery will be held on April 7, 2021, at the Spencerport District Office. Finally, our next Munn School Parent Association meeting will be this coming Tuesday, March 2rd at 6:00 pm via Zoom. Please email an officer if you would like the zoom link. Email addresses for MSPA officers can be accessed here on Munn's website. https://munn.spencerportschools.org/mspa I thank you for your continued support and hope that you have a relaxing weekend. Be safe. Be well. In Partnership, Mike
