Musica Viva NY 08.07.2021

All Souls Unitarian Church and Musica Viva NY have three soloist vacancies! Auditions will be held via Zoom on May 19 and May 26. The choir is a mix of professional singers and skilled volunteers. We sing Sunday mornings as part of the All Souls music program, and three times a year on the Musica Viva NY concert series. We'll hear auditions for the following voice types: Soprano 1 Alto 1 ... Alto 2 All other voice types are welcome to submit materials for upcoming sub list auditions to be announced at a later date. Trent Johnson is an organist, composer, pianist and conductor. He is the Organist and Assistant Director of Music of the Unitarian Church of All Souls in New York City and is the Music Director of the Oratorio Singers of Westfield, New Jersey. An active organ recitalist, Mr. Johnson has performed recitals in many of the major churches, concert halls and cathedrals in the United States, Europe and Asia. He is an organist at Radio City Music Hall in NYC, where he plays the "Mighty Wurlitzer" organ for the Christmas Spectacular Show. Catch Trent in our EINE SCHUBERTIADE program, MAY 16. Stauffer is Distinguished Professor of Music History and Dean Emeritus of the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Educated at Dartmouth College and Columbia University, he is well known for his writings on the music and culture of the Baroque Era and the life and works of Johann Sebastian Bach, in particular. He has published eight books, including, most recen...tly, The World of Baroque Music. A past President of the American Bach Society, he is presently at work on the volume Why Bach Matters. The choir will sing the Kyrie from the Mass in G Major and Ave Maria, arranged for solo voice, choir and organ, and featuring our beloved mezzo-soprano soloist Barbara Fusco-Spera.
