A fellow Alexander teacher asked if I had a transcript of my little youtube video, Top Ten Myths about the Alexander Technique. It was somewhere in my computer.... I found it and tweaked it just a bit. I added a few photos that support some of the ideas. Please feel free to share this with anyone interested in the Alexander Technique, and with your fellow students, trainees, and teachers. Thanks.
Greetings and Happy New Year! FYI, I'm offering a group introductory class this Wednesday at 4pm at Unity of Buffalo. Details here: https://www.unitybuffalo.org/alexander-tech-2020
Stanislavski has an entire chapter dedicated to "Relaxation of Muscles" in #AnActorPrepares . It's that important! The Alexander Technique is a systematic pra...ctice for letting go of extra tension -- and recovering your "constructive, conscious control." After your next AT lesson or class, check out Stanislavski's chapter. You may find a connection: "Our method consists of developing a sort of control, an observer, as it were...This process of self-observation and removal of unnecessary tenseness should be developed to the point where it becomes a subconscious, mechanical habit... It must be a normal habit and a natural necessity, not only during the quieter parts of your role, but especially at times of the greatest nervous and physical lift.... This habit should be developed daily, constantly, systematically,...while we are going to bed or getting up, dining, walking, working, resting, in moments of joy and of sorrow. The "controller" of our muscles must be made part of our physical makeup, our second nature. Only then will it cease to interfere when we are doing our creative work..." (An Actor Prepares) The Alexander Technique is a practice for actors to apply both to their acting and their everyday life for just this reason. Acting and life are not separate -- acting is an extension of life! And doesn't everyone want to be a little more relaxed, present, and available in every day life? Keep practicing. #actorslife #alexandertechnique #atcenterforactors

What have you heard about your core? I found this article by a fellow Alexander Technique teacher to clarify some popular misconceptions. The truth is that our core is more than strong enough to support us if we learn to stop interfering and allow it to function in a natural way!
For newcomers and those of you who have not heard of the Alexander Technique, this article does a great job of outlining the many benefits of this practice.
our muscular-skeleto system works as a single unit...
The Alexander Technique is a 'non-doing' practice... undoing...
