We're very happy to host: SUPPORT GROUP FOR BIPOC CREATIVE ARTS THERAPISTS. Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is preservation, and that is an act of political warfare. Audre Lorde This gathering is dedicated to promote reflective dialogue that centers on the needs of creative arts therapists identifying as Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) working within and impacted by oppressive systems (colonization, ableism, white supremacy, patriarchy, queerphobia, ...transphobia, xenophobia, capitalism, etc.). We recognize the impact of intersectionality on each of our identities and experiences of privilege and oppression. We acknowledge that individuals who join this space may hold multiple vulnerable identities that influence their experiences within these systems. We strive to co-create an intersectional, structured space for safety. Our intention is to care for ourselves and our communities as a radical act of resistance in order to move beyond surviving to thriving. https://bkcm.org//the-bkcm-music-therapy-program-holds-sp/ See more

We are really excited about this event next weekend! On Saturday, May 15 4-7PM, BKCM is having their [our] Spring Benefit with more than 150 local musicians across the stoops, parks and gardens of Park Slope. Our neighborhood will be filled with amazing musical performances of all styles--from Latin Jazz with Grammy-winner Arturo O'Farrill to Klezmer, Broadway, African Drumming, Swing, Bluegrass, Indian Raga, Hip-Hop and more! The event is free and open to the public with tickets including food & drink on sale until May 13 at noon. Proceeds support BKCM’s mission to provide music education and music therapy as well as opportunities for local musicians! Learn more at bkcm.org/SpringBenefit21.
Music Therapists who specialize in voice work, have been using singing to improve lung capacity for many years, but kudos to the English National Opera for their work with CoVid patients: https://www.nytimes.com//opera-singers-covid-19-treatment-
