Sitting her watching MVT’s QuaranScenes-My COVID Life with members of RiseBoro’s SONYC program. Getting ready for the question and answer session afterwards. ...The Q and A is something we miss from presenting our show online as it allows the actors the opportunity to unpack the process of creating and performing the show. Thankful for the opportunity to do that today. https://youtu.be/siQtbBReJVI See more

I know what I did last summer...and now you can too! So, just in time to mark the beginning of My Voice Theatre's 25th season, we have the final edit of our summer production, "QuaranScenes-My COVID Life". The piece is a collection of scenes and monologues written by the company, and is the result of their labor offering a glimpse of their lives framed by the Corona pandemic and the on-going demand for racial equity and social justice. Up until about a week before the summer ...program started, we weren't sure if we would have a program, let alone be able to have the experience in person, but we trusted the process and made it happen. The 8 company members, Jae Aiken, Noah Fowler, Thea King, Jennifer Moreno, Zayvon Paul, Gabriela Pena, Andre Perez and Gwendalyn Rosa, most of whom volunteered for the 25plus hours a week, showed up every day ready to do the work. "QuaranScenes-My COVID Life" is the result of their labor, and offers glimpses of lives framed by the Corona Pandemic and the on-going demand for racial equity and social justice. Because we are living in different times, this won't be your typical My Voice performance, but we are equally as proud of this show as any other. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/siQtbBReJVI Like. Subscribe. Share. Please and Thank You! See more

My Voice Theatre 21.01.2021

For the past four weeks, 8 young people have been working really hard to create My Voice Theatre’s 21st Annual Summer Production-QuaranScenes-My Covid Life. G...iven everything that is going on, we decided not to have a live performance this year, however, we are recording the show this week and next, and will send the link when it has been edited. Watch this space. Plus, My Voice Theatre Alum, Ray Collado, has returned this year as Assistant Director, and Director of Photography. It is good to have him working with the company again. See more

As you may have heard, the NYC Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) has been reinstated, with some adjustments, and will operate over the summer months for 5 weeks 7.27.20-8.28.20. The SYEP applications will be open (at the link below) 7.9.2020-7.15.2020. If you had registered previously for the program you need to re-register (use the same email and password and it should bring up your previous application). If you had not applied previously, you can now. All of the work w...ill be done remotely via Zoom. Youth will be selected via lottery on 7.16.2020. Youth will have 3 days to upload documents. If they don’t their name will go back in the lottery. Younger Youth - ages 14-15 will work 12 hours per week for 5 weeks and receive a stipend of $700. Older Youth - ages 16-24 will work 18 hours a week for 5 weeks and receive a stipend of $1,000. See more

Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened. So a little while ago I posted that despite the current circumstances not appearing to say Yes!, it was my intention to have a fully funded My Voice Theatre program this summer. We start our 21st Summer Intensive this upcoming Monday with 10 brave souls who want to tell the stories of the community as seen through the eyes of the young people who live there. Thank you, Universe!
