NAAP STATEMENT REGARDING RECENT EVENTS TARGETED AGAINST THE ASIAN COMMUNITY: We, at National Asian Artists Project, feel the need to express our sadness and outrage stirred by the recent tragedy in Atlanta, and over the increased incidents of senseless violence that have come upon our Asian communities. These aggressions and events have impacted our families and friends across the nation, leaving many with increased fear in their everyday lives. Our mission has always focused... our support on the performing arts, while also building a safe place in our community. In the wake of, not just last week’s event, but the multiple horrible attacks in recent memory, we at NAAP want to reach out to our friends and members who are feeling anger, grief, confusion and experiencing various levels of trauma, as a result of these horrendous and random attacks. It is further troubling to try to grasp the idea that this is happening due to an unprecedented and wildly inaccurate sourcing of misinformation targeted toward our ethnic origin. This pain and grief affects all of us and to have this happening during an historic and disastrous pandemic, makes all of this an even more heightened tragedy. Like any family, we encourage everyone to please take care of each other and look out for one another. We are asking that you make that extra effort to check in on friends, family, elders, and, please, don’t be afraid to use your voices and share your opinions and thoughts. Stay well, stay safe. Dear Friends, Over the last three months, all of us have endured great hardships on numerous fronts during these unprecedented times. Now more than ever, the Black Community needs all our support because of yet another case of injustice, and National Asian Artists Project is adding its voice: We stand in solidarity - Black Lives Matter.... The African-American Community has suffered bigotry and discrimination for generations, and since the pandemic we have seen increased racist incidents and ignorance towards our community. We at NAAP express in the strongest possible terms our support for equality, diversity, inclusion, respect and justice for all Americans. The ongoing health and economic crises continue to bring adversity to everyone, and disproportionately to minority communities. As the theater industry is basically shut down, our artists, administrators, supporters, and friends are struggling, both in the face of uncertainty and grieving for friends who have been lost to the virus. In the face of all this, we will continue to focus on our important mission of service. We are working hard to adapt all of our programming and community outreach to the new reality. We are confident that if we all stay healthy and focused, we will get through this and move forward together. Stay strong, safe and well. In loving spirit, Baayork & the NAAP Team

I would like to thank everyone who came out to support our NAAP Broadway Community Chorus on Tuesday at University Settlement, a sold out performance. We celebrated the Music of Marvin Hamlisch, which follows his career from age 6 when he entered Julliard, through his film and Broadway career. Terre Blair Hamlisch, Marvin’s wife, was unable to attend but was represented by David Loughner and Haydyn Meythaler from Concord: Marvin's License agency. We were so happy to have our ...own Diva Director Richard Jay Alexander flying in from Miami, Lucy and Victor Kan from Virginia, and Linda Collins from Pennsylvania. Linda Woo and Janice Won, our NAAP Gala committee, came with so many friends to making this one the most successful NAAP events. Thank you MD Micheal Ferrara, who did a brilliant job playing and arranging. Thank you to David Grindrod who did a fantastic job choreographing for the Chorus. Our Chorus mastered all the movements given to them, as well as performed Marvin's music beautifully. I am sure Marvin was proud. Hollis Duggans our PSM made sure everything was on schedule and Suzi Lee made Front of House checking in go so smoothly. Thanks to our Volunteers Francine, Merete, Viet, Alex, Ellis, Andrew, Chase and Alphonse. Without them, backstage preparations would not have been so flawless. Thank you to our Karen Kawamoto who is always there to run NAAPs website & Eventbrite and Andrew Greenberg who takes care of NAAPs FB. Without Cassey Kivnick, David Eng and Harry Lin (intern) this successful evening would not have happened, their hard work and preparation made this production a success. So, Thank You all for your Love and Passion for NAAP and its mission to Make a Difference in our community. The support from our Audiences and Members is important for our continual growth! NAAP wishes you all Happy Holidays and see you in the Spring at our next event. Always in loving spirit, Baayorkxx #NAAP
