Today I was featured on a full page of the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle's Arts section! Local journalist Marketta Gregory has started an essay series on the creative spirit, and my artistic process is described in her first installment. What an honor!

On this perfect spring morning, I played hooky from the studio project and went out painting! A mockingbird serenaded me in this field near Seneca Point.

I got most of this painting done during the Pittsford Art Walk. I concentrated on the boat because I was afraid it would leave! A violinist stood nearby entertaining the crowd as I painted along the canal. I’ll finish up the background in the studio.

The Schoharie Valley (north of the Catskill Mountains of NY) is a special place. Rich farmland on the valley floor is surrounded by steep cliffs carved from glaciers and ancient rivers.
