As the weekend approaches, remember to keep reading along with us as part of NBWJI's Book Club. This month's selection is A Little Piece of Light: A Memoir of Hope, Prison, and Life Unbound by Donna Hylton. What part has most resonated with you so far? Also, remember to join us on June 21, when we'll sit down with Donna Hylton to discuss the book, learn what inspires her work, and consider together how we translate our new knowledge into healing-centered justice. ... How does the NBWJI Book Club work? Read at your own pace. (We choose a new book to focus on about every other month.) Engage with other readers here (or on Twitter or Facebook). We share guiding questions for you to think about and help get the conversation started. As we finish the book, join us for a conversation with the author. On June 21, we'll sit down with Donna Hylton to discuss her book, learn what inspires her work, and consider together how we translate our new knowledge into healing-centered justice. Join us!

BIG NEWS! With The Children's Partnership, we are launching the Hope, Healing and Health (H3) Collaborativea youth-centered initiative aimed to expand the availability and accessibility of culturally-competent and gender-responsive mental health services and supports to youth of color, particularly Black girls, Indigenous youth, and Latina girls. In 2020, Black and Latinx children were about 14% less likely than white youth to receive treatment for their depression. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and heightened public attention to historical and ongoing racial injustice, H3 will ensure youth from marginalized communities have equitable access to effective and compassionate support for healing from trauma and toxic stress.
