We are excited to announce the opening of Ramah programming in the Great Lakes region of Camp Ramah in Canada this summer. Please forward this information to families in your community whose children are eligible for our Taste of Ramah minicamp for children entering 3rd through 6th grades. This summer we will be renting space from Camp Wise, the Mandel JCC of Cleveland. We are hoping to find our own site for 2022 and beyond to create a junior camp feeder for the outstanding ...teen programs at Camp Ramah in Canada. Please let us know how we can help you encourage more families from your community to choose a Ramah program. The Ramah Camping Movement congratulates Ramah alumnus Isaac "Buji" Herzog ( (') - Isaac Herzog) who has been elected as the 11th President of the State of Israel. Previously, Mr. Herzog served as chairman of The Jewish Agency for Israel, which has been Ramah's partner in bringing thousands and thousands of shlichim to Ramah camps over the past 74 years. Mr. Herzog has said of his Ramah experience, "At Camp Ramah in New England in the 1970s, I was privileged to tutor a camper in the Tikvah program for campers with disabilities. That experience taught me so much and contributed a great deal to my leadership skills and my desire to serve others."

From the Revolutionary War through today’s ongoing war against terrorism, American Jews have served nobly in all branches of our country’s militaryand many are among our nation’s fallen heroes. It is incumbent upon America’s Jewish community, therefore, to mark Memorial Day for both its national and its Jewish significance. Featuring greetings from Majority Leader Ch...uck Schumer, U.S. Senator from New York, we will hear from post9/11 Jewish Gold Star Families. Members of these familiesfamilies who have had a close relative killed in actionwill reflect and reminiscence about the lives and legacies of their loved ones. Tichon Ramah Yerushalayim (TRY) 2021 Lands in Israel! After months of waiting and hoping, 44 high school students have finally arrived in Israel to begin their in-person studies on Tichon Ramah Yerushalayim (TRY)! They are the first group to participate in an in-person Ramah youth program since the beginning of the pandemic, and we are thrilled for them to begin their journey with Ramah Israel. We deeply appreciate the unceasing efforts of our Ramah Israel professionals, led ...by Jonathan Madoff, TRY director, who worked tirelessly to navigate the maze of ever-changing Israeli travel restrictions and the complicated requirements of the Israeli Ministry of Health. This year's TRY participants are from 10 Ramah camps (as well as some with no Ramah background), and come from 17 states and provinces in North America. Since the end of January, they have participated in daily virtual programming: academics, Israel and Jewish education, and social interaction. They will spend the remainder of the semester, including an initial two-week quarantine period, learning more about Israel and Zionism; experiencing incredible personal growth by being abroad, independent of parents; and strengthening new virtual friendships as they continue to build a vibrant community.
