Spring is here-- volunteer! We need your help. Did you know that nearly 70% of fire departments in NY are staffed by volunteers, including ours? Please share to help us spread the word! There are so many ways our volunteers give back to their community, from emergency medical service providers to scene support and rehab, to interior Firefighting. And the beauty of the volunteer fire service is the diversity of people in it: from white collar office workers to career first responders, and everyone in between. If you've ever thought about becoming a firefighter, we would love to meet you. Send us a DM or call the number on our sign. . #recruitNY #FASNY #makemeafirefighter #firefighter #volunteer #communityservice #emt #nbfd #firstresponder #isthereafireinyou #911
Early this morning, our Squad-63 responded to it's second incident this week to provide firefighter rehab capabilities to the scene of a working structure fire in Elsmere. This unit routinely responds to fires in both Bethlehem and Guilderland, and is often specially requested for major incidents throughout Albany County. Want to learn more about volunteering for our rehab unit? Send us a message!
Our hearts go out to the members of the Slingerlands Fire Department and the family of Chief Walter (Billy) W. Eck Jr. https://www.facebook.com/202459859765909/posts/5578742388804269/

On January 4th, 2008 the North Bethlehem Fire Department responded to a structure fire on West Mckown Road shortly after 4:30am. First arriving crews found a multiple unit apartment building heavily involved in fire. The -2 degree temperatures and recent snowfall made the firefighting effort difficult. Crews from Mckownville, Westmere, Guilderland and Slingerlands Fire Departments along with the Town of Guilderland Police, EMS and Communications Center were brought in to assist. The incident was photographed by Eli Gill (Photo Below). You can check out more photos from this incident and many more at www.10-75.net
The snow is falling and the roads are getting slick. Please drive carefully!
This morning at 08:52 members of the North Bethlehem Fire Department responded to a report of a fuel leak off of Blessing Road. On arrival crews found a diesel fuel spill had occurred during the overnight hours. The spill had spread to the roadway and entered the storm water system due to the snow and rain that fell overnight. Crews contained the spill using absorbent material. The North Bethlehem Fire Depratment was assisted by the Mckownville Fire Department, Town of Bethlehem Police, Highway and DPW Departments and The Town of Guilderland and Bethlehem communication centers. At 10:57 the incident was turned over to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for further mitigation.
Please take some time this weekend and make sure the fire hydrants near your home are clear of snow. When fire hydrants are covered in snow it causes severe delays in getting the water we need to quickly and effectively fight a fire.
Awesome piece of history from our department’s 25th anniversary. Thank you WFD for sharing!
We took advantage of this perfect fall day to do some driver training with our engine tanker "ETA-64".
Today will be a hot one! Be on the lookout for symptoms of heat-related injuries. Thanks to WNYT NewsChannel 13 for the graphic.
At our drill night this week, members built upon Driver Training from previous weeks while training on pump operations, relay pumping, and Master Stream devices. Sound like fun?
