Following a five-hour Zoom hearing last Friday, we received a decision yesterday on motions to dismiss in the matter of Childers v Committee on Theological Education. The Permanent Judicial Commission of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) upheld the remedial complaint filed by the Sessions of four Presbyterian churches, who complained that COTE had violated the church’s constitution when it treated the San Francisco Theological Seminary as if it were not a Presbyterian theological institution. The matter will now proceed to trial, or mediation, or both.
