Being active in the community enables the people we support to contribute to the Hudson Valley. They have been active participants in the Think Differently Dash for the past several years. They get exercise while helping bring attention and potential customers to local area businesses. This Wednesday May 19 is Hudson Valley Gives 2021. Please consider giving a donation to New Horizons Resources. Your donation will provide additional resources such as infrastructure and ...vehicle updates. Click the link below to see NHR's page on Hudson Valley Gives and contribute. Thank you for your support. https://www.hvgives.org/.../new-horizons-resources...

At our Overlook house, Shaun, Franky, Chris and Arius stayed cool on the hot weekend with an outdoor pool. It was a great way to get outside and still keep cool. Chris' mom even stopped in for awhile to visit and enjoy the water games.

Hannah Smith, who lives at Jansen Road, has been keeping busy throughout the pandemic by working on arts and crafts. Her latest project is making planters with original designs that she can use as gifts for friends and family. She enjoys all different types of designs, especially ones that reflect nature and especially likes making gifts that are personalized.
The gentlemen at Overlook did a great job creating cards for their moms this weekend. Happy Mother's day to all the moms who celebrated this weekend.
IDEA, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity in America, an art exhibition created by New Horizons Resources, opened yesterday May 1 and will run through July 31 at the Cornell Creative Arts Center in Kingston, NY. About half of the 20 exhibits were created by people receiving supports from New Horizons and our staff members. Additionally, Dutchess County Family Services contributed a patchwork quilt where individuals each created a patch that expressed their fear and anxiety abo...ut racial violence. The Oakwood School and Spackenkill High School lent us an 8' X 12' mural they created to commemorate the deaths of American's killed by racial violence in the past year. Professional artists from the community have also contributed their work. You can visit the gallery at 129 Cornell St. Kingston, NY on Monday and Tuesday 11-7 Wednesday and Friday 11-5 Saturday 10 to 2 You can tour the exhibit virtually at https://cornellcreativeartscenter.com/virtual-exhibitions/
Chris Soto and Franky McCann went out hiking in Minnewaska State Park this weekend.
Regina Taylor took advantage of the Spring weather to spend some time in Lippman Park.
Dwight enjoyed the Spring weather this week by making a visit to Briggs Farm where they enjoyed fishing in the pond. Of course no visit to Briggs is complete without a visit with Dominic the donkey.
Dover has been very active. They celebrated Spring by coloring Easter eggs, cooking meals together and enjoying each other's company.
