Cast stone planters...I built 20 years ago. Insulated Grade beam construction directly on top of solid clay, a worst case scenario for frost heave but these planters are crack free. The large stones displace a lot of concrete. While I'm more carefull with the use Concrete these days concrete is very durable (lookat the wood deck!)and that should be considered in the carbon footprint totals.
