PLEASE SHARE AND MAKE THIS GO VIRAL: Christmas, Chanukah and Covid - Something to consider! It is hard to believe that October is here. Before we know it... the holidays will be upon us. This year will not be like any holiday we have celebrated in our lifetimes. The usual wish lists and shopping lists will take on a new meaning. Throughout this pandemic, many have come to depend upon mail and ship, especially as those small local stores have been shuttered by state orders. Restaurants are trying to get back on their feet. Small businesses are striving to rebuild and open safely. They are our neighbors, our friends, the people who live in our villages, towns and cities. They need our help. Many of us are familiar with the mythological story of Phoenix rising from the ashes. Like Phoenix, let's work together to help America rise again. Drive around your community and make a note of the businesses there. When you or your children put your wish lists together think of those places first. 1. When someone asks what you would like for the holidays, ask for a gift card or certificate from one of the businesses or restaurants on your list. 2. When you ask your children what they might like, take them around to those stores or restaurants and ask them to assemble their wish list from there. Yes, restaurants too for children, because sometimes the greatest gift is a memory of a special meal or day. 3. Be an "Angel" for a neighbor, friend, or even stranger who may be out of work and drop off a gift card or certificate for one of those local places. It's a gift to your neighbor and the business owner. 4. If your family or friends live out of town, ask them to provide a list of their local businesses or restaurants and let them know this year you are going to be helping rebuild their community too. 5. And, if it is a small online business you want to help, provide that website too. For many, the holidays will be difficult.
