New York Livestock Circuit 03.02.2021

As CEO of the Erie County Agricultural Society, Jessica Underberg, mentioned in the press conference following the cancellation of the 2020 Erie County Fair... ..."Our Ag Team is meeting as we speak to come up with an event for the youth"... and here it is folks! The WNY Youth in Ag Bonanza will be a reduced spectator series of livestock and animal shows that will take place on the Erie County Fairgrounds over the course of three weekends in August (8/6-8/8, 8/13- 8/15, 8/20-8/22). The goal of the program is to provide youth, who have had limited opportunities this summer to show and compete with their animals, a venue to keep the ag community growing during 2020. This event will not be open to the public but only for competitors and their immediate families. Despite historic and unprecedented changes to summer traditions, the ECAS is committed to the youth of Western New York State who have worked with their animals for months, said Underberg. Children involved in agriculture have invested their hearts, minds and financial resources into these youth development projects. It is our goal that the WNY Youth in Ag Bonanza will provide a hands-on learning experience that will continue to develop and recognize these hard-working children for their efforts. The show will take place in the designated agricultural zones on the Fairgrounds and will be open to all youth competitors from the eight Western New York Counties. These include Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, Genesee, Orleans, Niagara and Wyoming. Competitors will be able to compete in livestock judging and showmanship with dogs, horses, dairy cattle, dairy goats, poultry, rabbits, beef cattle, llamas, swine and sheep. We are excited to be able to bring you this opportunity this summer! Stay tuned to this page and the website http://www.the-fairgrounds.com/wnyyouthagbonanza/ for more information!

Hey All...just want to clarify as of right now the NY SHOWS ARE NOT cancelled. The committee that puts together the circuit thought that it’s best to not hold the points contest this year. There was plenty of discussion on things like financial concerns for families, will sponsors be able to support the event like in the past, and the potential of shows to be cancelled (which could lead to the points contest based off of a couple shows which doesn’t make sense). The committee... truly has the best interest of the kids and families at heart, and unfortunately tough decisions need to be made now because there is a lot going on in the background for things like this. We are confident that the show crews are doing everything in their power to be able to hold the shows. Please keep your fingers crossed that we will all see one another at the shows this summer! Stay safe and healthy everyone! See more
