ATTENTION: NYS Maple Producers' Association Announces the Cancellation of Maple Weekend 2020 The New York State maple trees are producing the annual crop of ma...ple syrup this month as they have done for centuries. Our members are working hard to harvest that crop each day. For 25 years we have held Maple Weekends to welcome the public to our farms to participate in the taste, smells, and excitement of that harvest. We had hoped to remain open to the public to continue that tradition for our community but what is happening right now is bigger than any one person or business, and we have a responsibility to proactively do our part to promote social distancing and limit the spread of COVID-19. Even though many of our farms do not see dense crowds for Maple Weekend, we know the risk of remaining open does not outweigh our responsibility to serve the publicand so the NYS Maple Producer’s Association is canceling the event for March 21-22 and March 28-29, 2020. Individual locations may still be welcoming individuals or small groups to their sugarhouse, please contact the farm directly if you are interested in visiting. Our member farms have already prepared for Maple Weekends, so maple products are available for purchase at all locations. Please use our member listing at mapleweekend.com to call, email or shop online at your favorite farm for the maple products you love. The New York State Maple Producers’ Association continues to monitor and assess guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and New York State health officials related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) global health emergency. We are optimistic that the actions being taken across the US will slow the virus and allow life to return to normal soon. At that time, we hope to set up an event that will allow you to come taste, smell and learn about the tradition of New York State Maple.
