The New Castle Police Department would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Floyd family. We join our fellow law enforcement colleagues in denouncing t...he actions, and inactions, of the Minneapolis police officers that caused the death of George Floyd. The officer’s tactics and failure to intervene are inexplicable, and they must be held accountable. We are sad. We are angry. We are disgusted. Sad for George Floyd, his family, friends, and everyone affected by this tragedy. We’re angry that the actions of a few will affect all of us. We’re disgusted that anyone wearing a police uniform would do what we all saw in that video. The actions and inactions of the officers in question are not a reflection on all the hard-working men and women in uniform who serve and protect us every day. Please know that we are more than a uniform, we are ordinary people and we stand with you. We anticipate and welcome difficult conversations that will result in progressive changes. Our commitment to public safety remains the same. We are committed to serving all citizens equally, compassionately, and with the intent of keeping unity within our community. We reject any behavior that abuses the trust bestowed upon our Department. We support non-violent civil disobedience, not criminal actions that result in injuries to people and damage to property. We are here to support and respect the rights of everyone who lives or visits our Town and take every measure to ensure their safety. James D. Carroll Chief of Police

WCPD / Headquarters Thirty-five years ago today, Police Officer Gary Stymiloski was murdered in the line of duty after making a traffic stop on the Saw Mill Riv...er Parkway in Yonkers. His service and sacrifice have never been forgotten, and all who knew and loved him have done much to keep his memory alive. The men and women of the Westchester County Police Department pause to honor and salute a brother, colleague, and friend. WCPD stands in sorrow and solidarity today and always with Gary's family and loved ones. POLICE OFFICER GARY R. STYMILOSKI #157

This year, the New Castle Police Benevolent Association, sanctioned by Chief Carroll, will be participating in "No Shave November". If you're not familiar with the concept, the goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness for cancer by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose. If officers want to participate in the program, they must give a donation with all proceeds going to St. Jude's Children Hospital. The New Castle PBA will match their donation. Allowi...ng officers to grow a beard is unprecedented in New Castle. Therefore, we encourage all our officers to take this opportunity for a very worthy cause. If you see a cop with a beard (or a very bad attempt at a beard), no need to check your eyes; he's just raising money for charity!! Here are a few of our officer's clean shaven. At the end of the month we will post another photo collage with facial hair.
