New Country Pride Camp Coming This Summer! Justin Perkins, Director of Programs at @NewCountryDayCamp, shares more about this exciting new program at the @14StreetY: Dear Families,... I’m really happy to be writing to you today! I’m Justin Perkins, NCDC's Director of Programs. I work hard to make sure our campers have access to a rich and varied selection of experiences as they build their summers at NCDC. I want to tell you about a brand new program we’re creating this summer: New Country Pride Camp! New Country Pride Camp is a very special, weeklong program specifically for LGBTQ kids, kids from LGBTQ families, and their allies. For five days, NCPC campers and staff will take part in all the classic NCDC activities and programs, and also have important conversations about what it means to be an LGBTQ person in the world today. New Country Day Camp is a welcoming place for kids and families of all genders and identities all summer long. An extension of our values, New Country Pride Camp is designed especially to be a place where LGBTQ campers and families can make connections with each other, share the things they have in common and celebrate their differences - in short, make a community within a community. I am excited to create the kind of experience for others that I wish I'd had as a camper. I can hardly imagine the impact it would have had on me as a child if I could have participated in a program like New Country Pride Campa program made by and for people like me that showed me it was okay to be myself. All that, plus swimming, soccer, and hiking? A dream come true! I’m so proud (pun intended) to welcome you and your family into our community. Looking for in-person childcare while your child is participating in virtual learning? @14StreetY has got you covered!! Our new 14Y Youth Center offers an all-day, in-person program for students in kindergarten through 5th grade to attend on the days when they are participating in virtual learning. We'll offer learning support for virtual learning, plus engaging in-person activities for students during periods when they don’t have class. Activities include art, movement, and sports.
