Newsday Family Reunion

Save the date: Friday, Feb. 28. for a New York Newsday and Friends tribute to Don Forst. We are looking at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. mid-town location to be announced, followed by a gathering at a Times Square bar. We will be sending invitations by email. We are so sad to share the recent news of losing our friends Earthalee Layne and Warren Berry in the past week. Both attended our Newsday reunion a few years ago and it was wonderful to see them and reconnect. Eartha and Warren were both full of love for life. I think they would want us to start sharing some happy news on this page. Earthalee Layne made history as one of the first AfricanAmerican women to integrate Sacred Heart School, a RomanCatholic high school in Washington, D.C. It was an experience Layne’s family said helped her become confident in her identity. There were a lot of stereotypes about African Americans but she said she was there to get educated and she focused on that, said Antonio Workman,Layne’s son.
