On Sunday, December 13th, the Vails Gate Fire Department will once again be escorting Santa Claus on his annual tour of our district and handing out candy canes... to children. We will also be collecting canned and non-perishable food items to benefit the Town of New Windsor Food Pantry. The food pantry is in desperate need of assistance, as many local families are in need of help. In an effort to help those in need while also continuing safe practices during the ongoing pandemic the Vails Gate Fire Department asks that any donations be placed towards the end of the driveway and candy canes will be placed at a safe social distance to eliminate personal contact. Santa and his assistants will all be wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. Santa will be starting out around 10 am and will appear at various locations in the district throughout the day. The Vails Gate Fire District protects the following areas: Along Route 94 from Erie Ave. up to mile past Mt. Airy Rd., along Route 32 from Union Ave. to Orrs Mills Rd. in Cornwall, along Union Ave. from Rt. 32 to the Town of Newburgh line, and all along Route 207 out to Hampton Court. If you unsure if you live in the Vails Gate Fire District, please contact the firehouse at 561-9729. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we may not be able to go down every street, but if you hear us come through your neighborhood, please escort you children down to the corner to see Santa. Dead end and narrow streets are particularly difficult for us to navigate safely. We will make every effort to cover as much ground as possible. In the event of inclement weather, we will reschedule for Sunday, December 20th. Thank you for your continued support! See more

On Sunday, December 20 starting at 9 AM the New Windsor Fire Department will be escorting Santa Claus around the fire district. As always with this annual trad...ition we ask for the communities help, please donate some nonperishable food items for the less fortunate in our town and help the New Windsor Food Pantry stay stocked during the holidays. Due to COVID-19 restrictions our members will be practicing social distancing and wearing mask, we ask that you leave your donations either by the road or your mailbox and we will pick them up. This year has been particularly hard on many families please do all you can to donate. Thank you and Happy Holidays. See more

We heard our sanitation workers have a big fan on Willow Lane. We might even be calling Luca for some extra help on the really busy days now that he has his truck and uniform all ready!

Today we were honored to escort one of the patients from the tragic bus accident back home. Shea spent over an hour inside the bus helping to treat and free her. We are so proud to have such an amazing police fire and EMS system in New Windsor
