What a great night at the lodge! We held a paint class for 28 people in our lounge, taught by our ER Lisa! Paint class came with a small dinner, Chicken Parmesan heros, cooked and served by Trustee Fred Vetter and PDD John Nuzzi while Trustee Joe Serafino took payment for admission. With the help of Past Doe President Jean Hunt, raffle tickets were sold for the chance to win one of 5 baskets! Those in the lounge who didn't paint helped by cheering everyone on, and they were also able to purchase the heros only for a small cost. All in all, not only did this paint party produce some great artwork, but it also made around $850 for lodge charities! Thank you to all who attended. Keep a lookout for the next painting extravaganza!
Today is V-E Day, a day to mark the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender of its armed forces on Tuesday, May 8, 1945. Thank you to all who served. You will never be forgotten. Thank you to all who serve now. We owe you so much. "So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them." #elkscareelksshare

"An Englishman by the name of Charles Algernon Sidney Vivian was born October 22, 1842. This son of a clergyman and successful comic singer and dancer in the music halls of London was the founder of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Many of the Elks philosophies and traditions can be traced as far back as the year 1010. Before coming to the United States Charles was a member of a fraternal organization in England called the Royal and Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes. The Buffaloes started around 1010, and there is considerable evidence that Charles introduced many of their beliefs to the Elks including the 11 o'clock toast." Happy birthday Brother Vivian.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our member, PDDGER Paul F Brown. Our prayers and thoughts are with your family and friends. You will never be forgotten.
Today we presented our $2500 Gratitude Grant to Long Island Sled Hockey, a fantastic organization of amazingly special athletes. Thank you to all our members for making their donations to the Elks National Foundation. It is your donations that make it possible for us to give grants to such deserving organizations. In turn, LISH presented us with their championship banner so we can hang it in our lodge.
