Field Trip to The Armory Show: Antiquarian Book Fair (3/06/2020) Group left NYEA at around noon and made its way to Fulton Station via uptown. Upon arriving in the Upper East Side neighborhood, we walked a few blocks towards the Armory Building on 63rd Street and Park Avenue. After taking a few outside photos of the Armory, which is a beautiful and large brick building, we walked in and bought tickets. The antiquarian book fair featured international booksellers showcasing no...t only rare, limited edition and/or signed books, but also antique maps, manuscripts, illuminated manuscripts, and ephemera. Diverse categories included art, medicine, literature, photography, autographs, first editions, Americana, etc. Prices ranged from several hundred to thousands of dollars for a single item. There was so much to see and learn about history that we ended up staying for a few hours. After walking around the large fair and meeting people from all over, we had a snack in the cafe before leaving. See more

Field Trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden (10/04/2019) Upon arriving, we strolled through the Cherry Blossom trail and entered the back of the Japanese Garden, admiring the flora and fauna that it had to offer: native species of trees from different countries in Asia, the pond with its Koi (Japanese goldfish) and turtles, as well as the shrubbery and grass lined around the water. After hanging out in the pagoda, we decided to check out the nearby Shakespeare Garden, then wa...lk over to the Conservatory building, which houses a Bonsai tree collection (Bonsai Museum) and different rooms with different climates: the Aquatic House and Orchid Collection, the Tropical Pavilion, the Desert Pavilion and the Warm Temperature Pavilion. We then headed to the Cascade's Garden, Trustees Garden, and finally, the Children's Garden. At that moment, we decided to head home. The gardens there were a nice escape from the big city and offered many natural sights, sounds and scents not to be found just anywhere. See more

Group left NYEA shortly after 10 am and headed to Fulton Station to catch the 4/5 train and then the 7 train via Flushing, Queens. Once we arrived, we met up with some other students and then proceeded to some of the matches at the practice courts. We watched a female match between a player from China, who eventually won against a player from Romania. Afterwards, we headed back to the main area and were given tips by a juggler who was entertainment people walking by. Some ot...her students decided to check out some of the other matches going on, while the rest of us went to the food court, called Food Village, then went inside some of the local stores such as the US Open's official sponsor, Polo Ralph Lauren. In addition, we had the pleasure of posing in some of Mercedes Benz's new vehicles. Afterwards, we took a few more photos of women on stilts and a man on a unicycle before making our way back to the 7 train at Mets-Willets Point. See more

Group left NYEA after the pizza party and made its way to South Ferry. After reaching the ferry terminal, we purchased tickets to Governor's Island, a short distance away. Once there, we took a stroll around the island, checking out what it had to offer, including its Native American origins, its use as an Army base with different forts, as well as Castle Williams that once served as a prison. Afterwards, we had some nice conversations on a bench, enjoyed the historic build...ings that were dotted around the island, reminiscent of colonial Virginia, appreciated the hilly landscapes, plus the flora and fauna, then headed back towards the pier area, where we had some drinks in a food court area before catching the next ferry back to Manhattan.
