Russel Burke writes: Hey NY & NJ turtle fans: Do you have the experience and professionalism to assist U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with wildlife confiscations, particularly turtles? If so, the Office of Law Enforcement in Valley Stream, New York, is looking to hire you! The ideal candidate has experience in animal care. Possession of a state-issued driver license and ability to pass a background investigation are required. The position is slated to start in May 2021 and co...ntinues as needed, not to exceed six months. The position pays $25-30/hour depending on experience and they are looking for a commitment of between 30-40 hours a week. The illegal shipments are expected to shift over time to other ports or modes of transport. Depending on the trade and adequate funding, this position may have the opportunity to travel domestically to perform the same support functions at other ports. The temporary support position is an essential component in OLE’s plan to scale up its law enforcement response to the live wildlife trafficking crisis. Scope of Work: The majority of the work will be on site at the Office of Law Enforcement in Valley Stream, NY.
