It's essential for families to figure out their EFC (Expected Family Contribution) before their children fall in love with specific colleges. You don't want to be blindsided come spring when you finally understand you can't afford those places!
This is good news for college-bound students and their families but is deep discounting sustainable? #DiscountedTuitionHigherThanEver

Yes! There's still time to apply to college even though the traditional National College Signing Day of May 1 has come and gone. #NACACOpeningsList https://www.nacacnet.org/openings
Highly selective or highly rejective?

It never ceases to amaze me when visiting college campuses that nine times out of 10, students don't jump on the opportunity to ask the tour guides--most often current students--questions. (Wondering about the number of volumes in the college library or where students can receive mail are typically questions posed by parents and don't count!) Make the most of your visits by reading up on the places you'll be touring. Then, most importantly, write down what YOU want to know ...about them as you try to figure out which one(s) might be a good match for you academically, socially, financially and personally. And remember that while beautiful architecture and landscaping can be seductive, it's a good idea to get as in-depth a sense as possible of what it might be like to actually go to various colleges rather than simply banking on what initially meets the eye. #UseCampusToursWisely #SouthwesternUniversityVisitingTips
Many families fall into the name game trap during the college search program, putting most if not all their eggs into the so-called "elite" schools' basket. Since those institutions don't offer merit scholarships, if your child is admitted (and with their acceptance rates under 10%, that's a long shot to be sure) and your family is deemed to have little or no financial need, you'll be paying close to $80,000 per year for that privilege. Why not check out the many other first-rate options that are likely to award your bright, hard-working, deserving student with generous merit scholarships and/or tuition discount deals? #GenerousMeritAidSchools
