Bard Nicaragua Education Initiative

Get together event Watching these kids joyfully dancing, singing, and playing together was indeed a rewarding moment. Yesterday, we spent the afternoon with about 60 kids from the community; with this event we closed the agenda of our Spring break here in Chacraseca, Nicaragua. We’ll be departing tomorrow morning but our hearts will stay here with this beautiful community. ¡Nos vemos en enero!

Community Garden Last year during our visit to Chacraseca, Nicaragua the NEI group along with the young members of the community built a community garden. First visit to the nearby elementary school called Instituto Hermandad Hnas. Maryknoll in Chacraseca. We were able to bring back various school supplies and donate them to the teachers of each grade.

Today, the children of Chacraseca received their backpacks to start the new academic year! We hope you enjoy them!

Although our January trip was cancelled due to safety reasons, this semester members of NEI worked extremely hard to raise funds to provide scholarships for two university students and to buy school supplies for the children in Chacraseca, Nicaragua. In addition, we were able to provide a small gift to our host families for the Holidays. Lastly, NEI gave a donation to the project Juguetes that was initiated by our beloved angel Angelica Garcia. The mission of the project Juguetes is to give toys to the children of the community during Christmas time. All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of our club members and donors. Thank youuuu!! A video of one of our host mothers Mercedes Garcia!
