Nicole's Hope, Inc.

My sweet Nicole's Birthday is coming up on May 17th and to celebrate her, I would like to share some of the beautiful smiles that we were able to make this year in her memory. Nicole's Hope, Inc. was set up to honor the wishes of Nicole to help bring smiles to the faces of children undergoing treatment for cancer and other blood disorders. While she was alive; no matter how much pain she experienced or how many set back she lived through, she always thought of others. She mad...e bears for the other children; she wrote poems for the nurses and doctors and she painted pictures for her family and friends. She had a beautiful, kind spirit, like no other, and I miss her every single minute of every single day. I thank her for teaching me the importance of making a difference in the lives of others and for teaching me that life is a precious gift....no matter how short that life is. She touched more lives in her 16 short years than I could if I lived to be a hundred and she did it with such grace and compassion. She was a warrior and a princess and I am full of pride to be her mom Please take a moment to look at these beautiful faces and remember that they not only had to deal with the horrors of cancer; they also had to deal with the loneliness, fear and solitude of Covid and each one of them did it with a smile! For those moms who struggle every Mother's Day to put a smile on her face and go out and face the world of beautiful, healthy children enjoying their day with their moms: I see you and I feel your pain....Take some time just for you to look at pictures of your precious angel, to watch videos of your child when they were healthy, to cry or to meditate and remember that you will see them again in the beautiful heavens where they are waiting with open arms.

This little sweetie’s (Jazzy) cancer has come back and she will begin treatment again in Albany. Her mom works and she and her husband share a cell phone. She absolutely needs to have a second phone while her baby is in the hospital. Nicole’s Hope is buying Jazzy an IPad so she has something fun to do in the hospital, but if someone has a phone just sitting around, please let us know. See her request below: Looking for an old cellphone to buy so they can contact me in case I'm at work while she's in the hospital. Or iPad. Does anyone have one for sale? Preferably an iPhone so they can use it with WiFi to call. We share a phone currently and are in dire need for another. Nothing special just needs to turn on lol

I am sure that you have seen me post about this little sweetheart. Her cancer is currently not responding to treatment and she has a really tough battle ahead of her. If you are able, please show up for her tomorrow. Seeing a whole lot of beautiful, supportive faces will do wonders for her as she struggles to fight this horrific disease

Thank you to Superintendent Oliver Robinson, Arthur Wait, Barbara Salecker and Carol Polsinelli for this beautiful memorial plaque placed in the Shenendehowa Memorial Garden. We were heartbroken to see that the bench and plaque built with such love by Nicole's graduating class and placed in front of Gowana Middle School was damaged, but as always the staff at Shenendehowa showed their love for their students and ordered this beautiful plaque to be placed beside so many other precious students whose lives were cut short. It means so much that Nicole's memory will live on in this garden as well as the kindness and support of her classmates. We are truly grateful

Thank you for the generous support of our wonderful donors. Because of you we are able to bring smiles to our amazing Cancer Warriors like sweet Anna. Her counts are struggling to recover so she is stuck in the hospital. She just wants to get back home to spend time with her friends and family and focus on school and enjoying this beautiful weather. We thought that since she can’t be having fun outside, maybe doing a little online shopping is in order. It’s all about finding ways to make this awful journey a little easier. We love you Anna!

As a mom of an Angel in heaven, it is such a bittersweet day. We struggle to find a way to celebrate Nicole’s short life, but along with that, you must think about what could be.... what would she look like, would she marry, would she have children of her own, what career would she have chosen???and so on....You think of all of the smiles, tears, kitchen table conversations, life celebrations and successes that we are missing and we go on because we must. We are so grateful for your support

Proud to join with the Alliance for Childhood Cancer for #ActionDay2021 to urge my members of Congress to do their part for kids with cancer by fully funding the Childhood Cancer STAR Act, the most comprehensive childhood cancer bill in history, for a 4th straight year.
