We at the Niskayuna Fire District No 1 have been providing Paramedic level advanced life support care to our residents for many year so that we could provide the best service we can. This Memorial Day, let's remember the brave men and women who sacrificed everything for the people they served with and the country the loved.

From all the members of NFD1 we would like to wish Chief of Police Fran Wall a happy retirement. Congratulations, on an amazing and outstanding career. Thank you for your service not only to the residents of Niskayuna but also the citizens of the United States for your service with the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fi Chief!

The Niskayuna Fire District No. 1 would like to thank Major Michael Lutcher from the Salvation Army and all of his staff for their kindness on National Donut Day. The gift of Dunkin Donuts was very much appreciated! History In 1938, the first-ever National Donut Day was celebrated in Chicago, and the history of The Salvation Army’s Donut Lassies was officially immortalized. The Donut Lassies were sent to France in 1917 where they established field bases near the front line...s. These huts served as locations where soldiers could stock up on essential goods and snag a treat or two provided by the lassies. When it became apparent that baking was going to be difficult to continue during wartime, two volunteers Ensign Margaret Sheldon and Adjutant Helen Purviance began frying donuts in soldiers’ helmets. Their work brought a light of hope and happiness to the battlefield a much-needed boost for soldiers who had been there for ages. The Donut Lassies are now often credited with popularizing the donut in the United States when the troops (commonly known as doughboys) came back from fighting in Europe. Over a hundred years later, The Salvation Army is still serving on the front lines, now through a wide range of social services for the most vulnerable Americans.

We are asking for remembrance and prayers for the victims of last evening's crash that occurred on Route 7. A terrible incident and tragic loss of life. We would like to thank the Niskayuna Police Benevolent Association, Mohawk Ambulance Service, and the Colonie Police Department for the assistance, everyone did an amazing job.

With Fire Prevention in full swing, we were unable to attend our annual Niskayuna Central School District Fire Prevention presentations due to Covid. So, in collaboration with Niskayuna Fire District 2, videos were made so that we could get the message of fire safety to all our students. Great idea by our Fire Prevention Coordinator Firefighter Nick Persons and the members of NFD2.

Houston FD Arson Investigator shot and killed in the line of duty. All aspects of our profession are packed with dangers. When our brave men and women of the fire service leave for a shift we never know if it will be our last time leaving our family. Few jobs have such risk. Found dog Niskayuna....was found on Rosendale Rd Please spread the word. At the Animal Protective Foundation ...
