How long a single strand of hair can stretch before it returns to its normal state? In order to find out what the elasticity of your hair is, wet a strand of hair and stretch it as much as you can. This will determine whether your hair falls under high, medium, or low elasticity. Here's how to know your hair elasticity:... Low Hair Elasticity - The hair does not stretch. It contains too much protein, which makes it feel straw-like and breaks quickly. Normal Hair Elasticity - The hair stretches a bit, but also returns well to the original curl. High Hair Elasticity- The hair stretches too much and does not bounce back properly. How to care for your hair based on your hair elasticity: Low Hair Elasticity: Remove all protein by washing your hair with a CG-friendly shampoo, and avoid protein until your hair is back in balance. Use water-based products, leave-in conditioners, and deep conditioners. Normal Hair Elasticity: The balance between protein and moisture is good. Continue to observe your hair and choose a balance between protein and moisture in terms of hair products. High Hair Elasticity: It contains too little protein and too much moisture. This makes it feel dry and lifeless, and it is fluffy. Preferably use products that contain protein. Found this helpful? I'm Amber Morrow, the founder of Nomadic Beauty International. Nomadic Beauty International was started when I noticed a lack of truly inclusive haircare brands. Even less so when looking for ones that were created by professional hairstylist WITH professional hairstylist in mind. I wanted a brand that made it easy to find products for your texture and offer high-quality, concentrated ingredients to keep hair and scalp happy.

Haircare is self-care Hair density is one factor that determines how to best style your hair. Here's how to know your hair density: LOW DENSITY- If you can see your scalp without moving your hair... MEDIUM DENSITY- If you need to move your hair slightly to see your scalp HIGH DENSITY- If it’s difficult to see your scalp How to care for and style your hair based on your hair density: Low-Density hair Avoid heavy products that weigh your hair down like heavy oils and conditioners. Look for products that can add volume to your hair like volumizing shampoos, dry shampoo, and mousse. Hairstyles that add more volume to your hair can help give your hair a thicker appearance. Medium Density hair You don’t need to do much to change the volume of your hair. You can focus on products that help keep your hair healthy while experimenting with different hairstyles and products. High-Density hair You may need heavier styling products like gels to get your hair to stick and keep it under control. Serums and oils may help reduce frizz. Found this helpful?
