When most of us think about gender inequality, we think about pay gaps between women and our male counterparts. But often, we don't consider the gap in job stability. During times of crises, especially like the public health disaster in India, women's jobs are 1.8 times more vulnerable than men's jobs? These job losses are primarily caused by lack of education, gender discrimination, and the fact that 94% of female workers in India work in informal sectors like the garment in...dustrywhich was most impacted by the lockdowns. Help us continue to support the powerful women we serve in India by funding the expansion of our Workforce Development Program. Donate to the link in our bio by tomorrow (June 6) and help us reach our $30,000 goal! . . . #nominetwork #endit #economicempowerment #enditmovement #endhumantrafficking #womenempowerment #humantraffickingawareness #forcedlabor #endpoverty #socialresponsibility #changemakers #nonprofitorganization #southeastasia #newyorkcity #empowerwomen #celebrateher #breakthecycle #moderndayslavery #sextrafficking #sextraffickingawareness #indiacrisis #india #covid19 See more

Amita is a wife and mother whose family struggles to make ends meet. Even though she has completed 12 years of education, she doesn't have access to the same opportunities as her husband. Amita always wanted to help support her family financially, so when she heard stories from other women who were transformed by our program, she quickly enrolled. Today Amita considers her time with Nomi Network as life-changing. She has grown in confidence and is starting the technical skill...s portion of our Workforce Development Program. Amita told our field staff that she never envisioned a village housewife like herself taking virtual classes over Zoom and learning skills beyond cooking, cleaning, and caring for her child. As Amita moves on to the next phase of our program, she is grateful for gaining financial literacy and technical skills. She is confident that they will help her finally secure a safe, sustainable job and work alongside her husband to support their family. To help us reach more women like Amita, donate to our Freedom Bearers campaign at the link in our bio! . . . #nominetwork #endit #economicempowerment #enditmovement #endhumantrafficking #womenempowerment #humantraffickingawareness #forcedlabor #endpoverty #socialresponsibility #changemakers #nonprofitorganization #southeastasia #newyorkcity #empowerwomen #celebrateher #breakthecycle #moderndayslavery #sextrafficking #sextraffickingawareness #indiacrisis #india #covid19 See more

Growing up, Chaavi's father was the primary breadwinner in their household while her mother stayed home to look after her and her siblings. But after he mysteriously went missing, her mother had no way to provide for her children other than engaging in sex work. Chaavi's mother feared that her daughter would end up in prostitution someday. After all, they lived adjacent to the red-light district, which put their entire family at a heightened risk of trafficking. Today Chaavi ...has completed the first phase of our Workforce Development Program and took the opportunity to serve her community through our COVID-19 Awareness program as a Community Outreach Worker. As Chaavi prepares for her next phase of training, she exercises her sewing skills and looks after children at a nursery to earn income. Chaavi is now confident in her future and the life we will be able to provide for her son. We can't wait to see what career opportunities open up for Chaavi after she completes our program! To help us reach more women like Chaavi, donate to our Freedom Bearers campaign at the link in our bio! . . . #nominetwork #endit #economicempowerment #enditmovement #endhumantrafficking #womenempowerment #humantraffickingawareness #forcedlabor #endpoverty #socialresponsibility #changemakers #nonprofitorganization #southeastasia #newyorkcity #empowerwomen #celebrateher #breakthecycle #moderndayslavery #sextrafficking #sextraffickingawareness #indiacrisis #india #covid19 See more

These job losses are primarily caused by lack of education, gender discrimination, and the fact that 94% of female workers in India work in the informal sectorwhich was most heavily impacted by the country's severe lockdowns. During this global crisis, traffickers worldwide are preying on the increased economic vulnerability of women and g...irls, who make up 71% of trafficking victims. Join leading global human trafficking experts as we unpack the challenges of combatting modern slavery, the solutions needed to address its root causes, and the support needed to advocate for victims. An estimated 40.3 million people worldwide are trafficked. This crime earns profits of roughly $150 billion a year for traffickers as a whole, with $99 billion coming from commercial sexual exploitation. Hosted by the Finding Humanity Podcast, this webinar builds on the advoca...cy of the Finding Humanity episode that follows the journey of Blessing Okoedionfrom an aspiring doctor to a woman forced into prostitution currently fighting for other victims and survivors. Women and girls are already at a heightened risk for trafficking and exploitation, and this current surge of COVID cases adds an additional toll on vulnerable women and girls. Vaccinations are needed to get India's economy back on its feet and our anti-human trafficking initiatives back in full force. We are now donating part of the funds from our Mother's Day Campaign towards COVID-19 prevention in India. We will reactivate our community outreach teams to educate their remote communities about vaccine safety and efficacy. Funding will also go towards health supplement packages and medical support of our trainees, beneficiaries, and program partners throughout our base regions of Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal.
