The North Tonawanda Professional Firefighters provide an important front line link in the chain of survival for EMS care. "Every day, in communities across the country, Emergency Medical Service (EMS) providers put themselves on the line to save lives, safeguard dangerous situations, and deliver hope to families and communities in crisis. With selflessness, professionalism, and grace under fire, they provide essential care never more so than during our battle with COVID-19 over the past year. This year’s Emergency Medical Services Week theme, THIS IS EMS: Caring for Our Communities, honors our heroic frontline workers who provide vital emergency medical care and ease the burden of crisis for Americans in need of help." Happy EMS Week 2021!

We would like to congratulate Assistant Chief Tom Croop, who as of 7am today has completed his final tour of duty with the NTFD. Hired in 1993, he attended training at the State Fire Academy in Montour Falls. He was assigned to Engine 7/Dispatch before going on to a Relief position. Promoted to Captain in 2007, then Assistant Chief of Fire Prevention in 2011, he became the A/C of 3rd Platoon in 2016, the position he retires from today. Nicknamed "Father Tom" because of his ca...ring and empathetic nature towards patients on calls and Firefighters on his platoon, you would be hard pressed to find a more technically sound Firefighter or Assistant Chief. Chief Croop was a Ice Rescue Tech, Swift Water Rescue Tech, Code Compliance Tech and Rope Rescue Tech. In addition to using his skills with the NTFD, he also was a member of the Niagara County Technical Rescue Team. Tom was a go to guy for Union functions and events. He served as a Platoon Steward and the Flag Committee, but could always be counted on to help wherever he was needed. After 28 years of dedicated service to the North Tonawanda Fire Dept., the Local 1333 organization and the City and Community of North Tonawanda, we would like to wish Assistant Chief Tom Croop a very long, happy, healthy and well deserved retirement! Congrats Chief! See more
