Well, the surgery is not only done, but I am home. I had the procedure as planned on March 31. I left the hospital yesterday on April 3. Everything went well. I cannot tell you how much it means to me to see all those kind words written and to know that people are thinking of me. Thank you all. Happy Passover and Happy Easter.

To my Patients, I want to inform you that I will soon be taking an extended leave for medical reasons. Now before we all start speculating, I will tell you exactly what is going on. Last month, as part of an annual checkup, I had a visit with a cardiologist. I was completely asymptomatic, and if anyone saw me recently, I even lost some weight, (through salads and treadmill). I wanted to make sure that I did not have anything that could lead to heart issues, (heart attack).... If these issues are found early, they can be easily repaired and problem resolved. I had absolutely no symptoms at all, just covering all bases. So, off I went to the cardiologist and aced my treadmill test, (good coronary arteries). As part of the work up, I had an echocardiogram (ultrasound). Well, the test showed a growth inside of my heart. Now, if this growth was anywhere else in the body, the doctor would take it out and I would be cured. (This is not cancer, it is benign). In this case, not so easy, since it is inside my heart, (left atrium to be specific). I will need open heart surgery. Although it sounds scary, it is really pretty routine in 2021. The procedure is scheduled for March 31. I will go into the hospital on March 30. I will be working until Marth 29. My doctor said I will be out a month or maybe even a little more. It all depends how fast I heal. The office will run as usual. I may even do Telehealth after a few weeks. In any event, I will keep you informed. Dr.B See more

We are past the peak. We are past the plateau. We are on the descending part of the curve. Whether this will continue depends on a few factors. One good piece of news is that these types of viruses tend to slow down in the warmer weather. Another big part of the equation is actually how many people really did in fact get infected. I've seen estimates that the real infection rate could be 10 times greater than the numbers of people that have gotten sick. If true, this woul...d be great news. It would mean that a larger percentage of the population would be immune and that would give us what we call herd immunity. (The more people that have had the illness, the less people out there that you can catch it from). Until we know for sure, we cannot get careless. Wear masks in public. Practice social distancing. Most importantly, do not put your hands in your mouth, nose or eyes unless you have just washed them. CALL US IF YOU NEED US! See more
