The Norwich High School Archery Club is happy to announce the following statistics and results from last Saturdays New York State Virtual Archery Tournament. Over 402 Archers competed in the High School and Middle School shooting divisions. The top twelve coed shooters represented each school team and the remaining shooters competed individually. On Saturday, March 20, 2021 the Norwich High School and Norwich Middle School Archery teams competed in the New York State Virtual Archery Competition on Saturday, March 20, 2021. Forty five (45) students competed for Norwich in the Statewide event. The State results are expected by the end of the week and additional statistics and state rankings will be posted then, Until then please find some photos from the day amongst the six flights of shooters. Students competed in a 30...0 bullseye competition, in which students shoot 15 shots from 10 meters and then they shoot 15 shots from 15 meters with a maximum score of 300 possible. The National Archery in our Schools Program (NASP) is an amazing sports program that is for boys and girls. The program provides an equal playing field for all participants as everyone shoots the same style of Genesis bow, same type of arrows and from the same distances. You compete against yourself as well as others. You represent your team and can also represent yourself as a competitive archer. The skill set comes from the individual not the equipment. 2019-2020 Norwich Middle School Archery Team year in review and New York State Archery Tournament Highlight: Throughout the year the Norwich Middle School Archery team had approximately 37 Archers on the roster. 2019-2020 Norwich High School Archery Team State Tournament Review: Congratulations to our National Qualifiers and Academic Archers/ Many athletes’ seasons ended abruptly this school year, and the Norwich High School Archery Team was no exception. Volunteers and coaches gathered today to organize the Archer shirts and some additional items from the coaches. The coaches are planning to deliver the packages to the student Archers in the coming days. Today, Wednesday May 6th all National qualifiers would have departed for Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. In the coming days we will have pictures from our virtual State tournament which was held before school was cancelled. We will also have the results from the Virtual New York State tournament to share with the students. Hope all of you are safe and healthy.
