Why do some tattoos fade faster than others? Well here’s a great example of how the process can vary greatly, even between tattoos on the SAME person. 1 Ink Density - one of the most important factors. The darker the tattoo, the more ink there is, and the more treatments it will require.... As you can see in the image above, the tattoos that were lighter than the others to begin with (left side of image) faded more during the removal process than the ones on the opposite side of the body. 2 Scarring - common side effect from the tattooing process. Scar tissue can trap the ink particles and make it more difficult to remove them. This tends to result to in more treatments needed. It may be difficult to see in the picture above, but the client had some scarring in the darker tattoos from when he first got them. This was a factor in the one side taking longer than the other. 3 Location - circulation is improved the closer we get to the heart. The neck, head, chest, and upper back tend to heal and fade the quickest. However, this client is right handed which results in increased movement of that side of the body. This would have also played a role in that side fading more. INK COLOR = MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR In general, black/grey ink is always going to be easier to remove than any other color.
