If you’re going straight through an intersection, don’t hug the right curb prior to going through. This makes getting hit by turning vehicles in both directions more likely. Be in the center of the rightmost lane that allows you to proceed straight.

Don’t barrel through intersections at top speed. Go slow enough that you can stop yourself if a vehicle turns directly in front of your path. Maintain eye contact, watch for turning vehicles and anticipate drivers’ moves.

At less complicated intersections with no dedicated turn lanes, position yourself in the lane in relation to where you’re headed: near the center line if turning left, in the center if going straight and near the curb if turning right.

When navigating intersections on your bike, use the rightmost lane in your direction of travel. If you’re going straight, be in the rightmost lane that allows you to proceed straight. It’s advisable to ride in the center of your lane through intersections to deter unsafe passing.
