NYC CERT Brooklyn 13

I was very happy and proud to serve with the CERT Brooklyn 10/11 Team last night assisting the NYPD with traffic and crowd control at the Dyker Heights Lights o...n 84th Street between 12th and 11th Avenues. Huge numbers of people came from all over to see the residents Xmas decorations. This is a photo taken in front of one of the decorated homes with CERT and NYPD. On December 5, 2018, CERT Brooklyn 13 (Susan Flaschenberg and Craig Kligfeld) along with members from other CERT Teams (Alan Stoddart, Mario Roca and Donni Katz...ovicz) assisted with Operation Santa Claus at Hanger no. 19 at JFK Airport. Operation Santa Claus is sponsored by the Community Mayors, Inc., a non-profit non-partisan organization that serves to improve the lives of children with special needs by providing opportunities for them to experience and enjoy a diverse array of events and activities tailored to their unique needs. Craig Kligfeld of Brooklyn 13 has volunteered with the Community Mayors, Inc. for many years and was the impetus for CERT involvement in Operation Santa Claus for the first time this year. Although CERT assisted with crowd control and seating the children the real involvement came when Craig was asked to hold Santa Claus up while he stood on a little train that traveled around the Hanger greeting all of the children. As you saw from Monday's post, CERT Brooklyn 13 lost one of its valued long-time members, Marty Bromberger. Marty was also an active volunteer in the Coney Island community.
