A line of showers and scattered thunderstorms will move across the region along a strong cold front this evening. The line will move through areas north and west of New York City between 6 and 8 pm, areas along the Hudson River and New York City metro between 7 and 9 pm, and across Long Island and southern Connecticut between 9 and 11 pm. There is potential for damaging wind gusts in excess of 58 mph with the line of showers and scattered thunderstorms. These winds could bring down trees and power lines.
