"Becoming an NYRR member was how I first became immersed in the city. I had just moved to NYC when I became a member and had not ever been to the city before. R...unning the NYC marathon was one of the greatest ways to see the city - it made me see this place is my new home! Nicole Theodore is #NYTough. A runner and survivor of cervical cancer she ran the 2018 @nycmarathon to help raise money for Happiness Is Camping, A camp for kids with cancer since 1982. The #PowerofRunning gave her purpose and helped her find her way after treatment. As New Yorkers like Nicole continue to show their resilience, join a supportive community of runners in the city and become an #NYRR member today: https://bit.ly/2TctoIA

Randy Savitt (pictured in the front left) decided to start volunteering at New York Road Runners (NYRR) races, after seeing a friend complete the 1985 NYC Marathon. Randy's run the marathon almost every year since 1986 each time after three days volunteering at the expo. 35 years since that initial decision and his love for volunteering has grown. He appreciates the community and fellow #NYRRVols, especially the first-timers with their inquisitive questions. This fervor fo...r volunteering has shone through during the pandemic, as he’s volunteered regularly at NYC food pantries and with our partner at God's Love We Deliver. He offers this advice for young people, saying volunteering now would show them how times can change and how they can help to change lives. On this #Thanksgiving holiday, we’re thankful for every member of our #NYRR community! To the runners who were motivated to run the Virtual #TCSNYCMarathon, or the friends and family members who wore many hats as coaches, pacers, volunteers and spectators thank you. Whether you ran for Team For Kids, another one of our amazing charity partners, or for the frontline heroes who provided so much inspiration, your dedication motivated us. Lastly, we’re thankful for the hope we all share to run together again soon. What are you thankful for this year?

Keep going runners, we’re rooting you on the rest of the way.
