Good morning GMA & NYCTSD, Because of the current raise in the pandemic numbers in the state of CT our Region 9 leaders thought that there was a good chance that this event would be cancelled. Fortunately for us we were granted the short notice ok to proceed with our scheduled Event!!!... TOURNAMENT IS ON!! If you are receiving this you are already in the process. Details on your arrival time will be sent ASAP! Black belts will compete Friday between 5-8 but with specific times to arrive. Good morning GMA/NYCTSD members and families ...heading back to school during this pandemic is tough but you are as well. Those of you who have reached a leve...l of WTSDA learning and understanding re-read and remember these for focus and strength . We Black Belts at WTSDA live under 14 Attitude Requirements : Purpose of training should be the enhancement of mental and physical betterment. Serious approach. All out effort. Maintain regular and constant practice. Practice basic techniques all the time. Regularly spaced practice sessions. Always listen to and follow the direction of instructors or seniors. Do not be overly ambitious. Frequently inspect your own achievements. Always follow a routine training schedule. Repeatedly practice all techniques already learned. When learning new techniques, learn throughly the theory and philosophy as well. When you begin to feel idle, try to overcome this. **Cleanliness is required after training. **Keep yourself and your surroundings clean. TANG SOO FOR LIFE!

July Region 9/Studio Updates Gup Color Belt Testing We are planning Gup Testing for Thursday July 30, 2020 from 4:30-6:30pm either at BreakThru Family Fit 4 Life or close outdoor venue in Stamford, CT. Instructors needed to help.... Black Belt Promotions We anticipate that we will be able to gather on Saturday August 1, 2020 for black belt presentation for those that tested in February and for those getting stripes. We are working on the Meriden Green with a bread breaking at the Meriden school. More info coming soon. Black Belt Testing Schedule for Saturday September 12, 2020. All paperwork is due by August 1, 2020. Written test will be online and consist of 150 questions "open book style". Test will be at VK Meriden and testing will be limited to participants only. We will Live stream it via ZOOM. Region 9 Championship We are working with the XL Center on rescheduling the Region 9 Championships. The Governance Committee of the WTSDA is pleased to announce that the position of OVP has been filled! We are excited to announce that Master Frank Fattori has been selected (and accepted the position) as the first OVP. We would also like to thank all those who applied - the candidates were all excellent and made the Governance Committee work hard to make a selection from such a wonderful and dedicated group of candidates. I am sure there are some who may be asking what is ...the OVP? The OVP (Operational Vice President) is a new position created by the Board of Directors. This position is responsible for supporting the goals and objectives of the WTSDA. Working in concert with the president, and under his or her direction, provides support to the president and regional directors as assigned. This position reports to the president on a regular basis, keeping him/her informed on regional activities, operational issues, financial matters, complaints, etc. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Next week Thursday and Friday there are some free Region 9 training for students open to travel to Valentin Karate in Meriden to receive some World Class training to prepare for our U.S. Nationals on July 19-20 in Stamford. Ok for lower ranks to attend but brown belts and above might benefit more because of the nature of the material. Hi, ... Mr. Brian Jansa from Region 5 will be visiting Valentin Karate on Thursday May 30th, and Haney Karate Friday May 31st for no cost training classes. These classes are open to all ranks, all schools. Mr. Jansa is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in WTSDA. He also trains in a variety of other different Martial Arts, including Hapkido, Shorei-Ryu, and Extreme Karate. In addition he trains twice weekly in Qi Classes. *** He will be teaching Extreme Formsat Valentin Karate (75 South Colony St, Meriden, CT) on Thursday May 30th from 7-8:30pm. *** He will be reviewing Tournament Prep at Haney Karate (71 Oxford Rd, Oxford, CT 06478) on Friday May 31st from 7-8:30pm.
