CREATING A WORLD FULL OF COLOR. For NYDG SKIN DEEP SCHOLARSHIP recipient Aline, a courageous young girl, the choice to return to school came easily. Although Aline has albinism and experiences discrimination and bullying on a daily basis, she is determined to complete high school and to make a difference. She wants to not only live with financial security, but to live in a community that completely embraces her. Invest in NYDG scholarships and help us to expand our programs to fight bullying, discrimination, and violence. Take action and make a difference. . #nydgfoundation #skindeepscholarships #albinism #albinismawareness

July 10, 2020-Rega village, Rwanda Niyigena Materne enjoys a tender moment with his mum, Jacqueline in front of their home. Niyigena is 19 years old and he’s in his last year of high school. He was studying for his final exams when COVID-19 suspended all studies in the country. He will resume when schools reopen. He’s studying languages and literature (Kiswahili and Kinyarwanda). He has 3 other younger siblings. Persons with albinism have trouble with their eyesight. Ev...en with glasses, persons with albinism will not receive a clear picture. Albinism does not make a person completely blind, but some people with albinism are ‘legally blind.’ This doesn't mean they have lost their vision completely. They can still read and study, but they need larger print, magnifiers and blackboards that are properly cleaned using white chalk so they can clearly see the letters. Help support our NYDG SKIN DEEP SCHOLARSHIPS so we can give Niyigena and others the best chance possible in life in Rwanda. Make a difference. See more

USA COLORING OUTSIDE OF YOUR BOUNDARIES As Americans come together to celebrate 4th of July, NYDG’s ColorFull Ambassador in Los Angeles, Marleena Barber, enjoys a colorfull moment with her two little girls. Much like USA itself, a box of crayons is wonderfully diverse. It’s our individual responsibility to make sure that we see and include all colors to create a stunningly beautiful and inclusive landscape. So grab your crayons and capture everything it has to offer. HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA!

LET WORDS AND ACTIONS DEFINE YOUR LEGACY. Happy 75th Birthday United Nations! There are moments when we stay silent and there are times when we need to step out of the shadows and help each other build healthier and more inclusive communities. @diandraforrest, NYDG’s ColorFull Ambassador, is holding the Peace Rose. When delegates from 50 nations met in San Francisco to sign the United Nations Charter in June 1945, they found the Peace Rose in their hotel room. May the Peace Rose remind us all about our shared history and our shared future. HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVERYONE.

IN THIS TOGETHER-A TABLE FOR TEN Today is the first day of NYDG’s emergency food deliveries to its Skin Deep scholarship recipients and their families in Rwanda. Furgence lives in northern Rwanda with his 9 siblings and parents. Out of the 10 children, 5 have albinism. Children with albinism are extremely vulnerable to violent attacks in many parts of Africa. Body parts can be sold for as much as US$7000 on the market. Scholarships can make a difference. Allow others to not only dream about a future, but to live it. ‘Don’t fence me in. Explore who want to be and who you are,’ sings Connie Chiu one of the world’s first recognized models with albinism. From fashion designer Jean-Paul Gauthier to Depeche Mode, Connie continues to softly raise her voice to fight for equality and real acceptance for All. It’s now time to close your eyes and listen to her words. We are dancing for our common thread-freedom. #madetoshine #albinismawareness

13 June 2020 Colorfull joins the UN and other organizations to hear how we are all ‘Made to Shine’ on International Albinism Awareness Day. The ‘Made to Shine’ theme was selected to honor and celebrate the achievements of persons with albinism across the globe. It’s also a call to action to stand strong with people with albinism through all of their challenges. From killings to attacks to bullying, extreme discrimination continues against people with albinism. Join our ColorFull campaign and help create a world where they are ‘Made to Shine’ the brightest when given equal opportunities.

Inclusivity, diversity, equality and love are the greatest gifts we can give to each other. Let us build shelters that can keep all warm and dry. We must not weather the storm alone, but together as one. #blackouttuesday Stephan Bognar Executive Director
