Hello Steam Family and Friends. Our Aunt Fran has ask us to update you on Uncle Gordon Hawk's health. As you most of you are aware his health has been failing for the past few years. He is currently in Hospice at home and the immediate family has been asked to come and say our final goodbyes. Please keep Aunt Fran and Uncle Gordon in your prayers as it is in God's hands. Thank you, Michael and Shirley McCauley

A message from the President I’d like to start off by saying that I hope this letter finds all of you happy, healthy, and safe. I know that these are unprecedented times and as we all learn to maneuver our way through this new normal, know that we at the pageant missed being able to see you all this year. While our decision to cancel this year’s show was not easy one, the board felt that it was in the best interest of our entire community, volunteers, members, exhibitors, and... guests. Unfortunately due to the limitations that New York State has set forth, we must also announce that we have had to cancel this year’s Thresherman’s Dinner. As you are all aware the Tresherman’s Dinner is where we would have had our elections for officers and director. Because of this cancellation the board has voted to extend the terms of those currently in office until 2021. With that said, we do have two directors that have chosen to not continue another year and so we will be replacing them with the 6th and 7th place votes from last year’s dinner. We would like to thank Tom Curtis and Asa Burton and congratulate Pat Murphy and Jon Muck. To further comply with current COVID-19 guidance it is with sadness that we also cancel the 2020 Christmas party and all general meetings until further notice. We will continue to keep you up-to date here on our Facebook page and on our Website at www.nysteamengineassociation.com. While I know this year has been a trying one for everybody, the New York Steam Engine Association was affected greatly as well. We missed out on our largest fund raiser of the year, our show. Please know that your continued support, donations, and memberships mean the world to us and the livelihood of our organization. We encourage our loyal members to go to our website, print off and fill out the 2021 membership form and return it with your membership fee. Thank you for your continued support, Rick Finley, President See more

Celebration of Steam: Some terrific sights & sounds of yesteryear. If these were normal times, many folks would be getting ready to gather in Hopewell, NY (ne...ar Canandaigua) for the annual Pageant of Steam put on by the New York Steam Engine Association. It’s held each August and draws people from all over America, folks who marvel at the endless machines on display. The pandemic forced cancellation of this summer’s event, a Finger Lakes Region staple since 1960. I’ve assembled a quick video here from visits I’ve made there the last couple of yearsthe sights & sounds are a throwback to the good old days. As the NYSEA proudly states: The club’s purpose is to promote and encourage interest in the operation, ownership and preservation of the antique equipment powered by steam or otherwise. I look forward to returning there in 2021! See more

At this time we are still monitoring our current situation with COVID-19. We are waiting for word from our state government as to when how or if we will be able to have a show. Thank you for your patience.

We like many of you are disappointed that our Gas up has been postponed until (at least) June 6, 2020. If you're like many of us you already have your engines, ...tractors, and/or equipment out to play with this upcoming weekend. So.... that doesn't mean you can't! We've heard several people telling us their planning their own little Gas-ups at their places. So if you plan on doing something like that as well, post your pictures and videos on our pages or send them to [email protected]. See more

Dear NYSEA members. In accordance with New York statewide emergency declarations in regard to COVID-19, Our March 29th, 2020 NYSEA meeting is cancelled. Governor Cuomo has declared we take every precaution to minimize the risk of exposure against symptomatic spread of anything by restricting non-essential gatherings. In my opinion that includes our association. Going forward we will pay attention to the coronavirus pandemic and make a timely determination if we can safely meet.
