We will see a light to moderate snowfall for most of the region tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night. A winter weather advisory has been issued for Ulster, Dutchess, Litchfield, and Berkshire counties, where the greatest snowfall totals of around 3-5 inches are expected.

Overnight, crews from the Thruway's Manchester Maintenance Section, Facilities, and Syracuse Division Highway worked through near freezing temperatures to make critical repairs to a waterline at the Junius Ponds Service Area. The repairs were made overnight to limit any disruption to drivers.

2020 was an exciting and truly historic year for the Thruway Authority. The included the opening of the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge Path, millions of dollars in capital projects, the conversion to Cashless Tolling system-wide in November, and a very (very) large snowstorm to wrap up the year. #HappyNewYear and we look forward to what's ahead in 2021.

A special friend of ours, Armando Chick Galella -- a Sleepy Hollow resident, veteran and Bronze Star recipient who survived the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor -- paid a special visit to Tarrytown last night to see the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge lit red, white, and blue to mark National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. You may remember Chick. On Aug. 24, 2017, Governor Andrew Cuomo and Chick were the first to drive across the new bridge. A band of lake effect snow along the NYS Thruway will slowly drop south this morning, then weaken midday into the afternoon. Snowfall rates could approach 1 inc...h per hour with low visibilities this morning. Outside of the lake effect snow it will be partly sunny and breezy with high temperatures from the mid 20s to around 30. Tonight will be dry with lows in the teens.

A reminder that new toll rates will go into effect this Friday, Jan. 1, 2021. This is the first Thruway toll adjustment since 2010. NY E-ZPass customers outside of those who use the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge will not be impacted. Toll rates for NY E-ZPass customers on the rest of the system will remain the same. It is never too late to sign up for E-ZPass. Learn more at thruway.ny.gov/ezpass. E-ZPass is sold at more than 800 retail locations across the state and accepts checks, cards, and money orders.

The first half of our two-part storm is complete, with 4 to 8 inches of snow falling across far western portions of our region. Lake effect snow is now developing off both Lakes Erie and Ontario. The second image is how much lake effect snow we expect through Sunday morning.

If you must travel, be extra cautious due to hazardous conditions. Crews will be out through Christmas keeping the roads safe for all travelers.

Rain transitions to a mix briefly, then to snow across western NY this evening. Changeover will then put the "brakes" on from the Genesee Valley eastward, with the transition there not occurring until Christmas Day. Fresh snow will only fall west of the Genesee Valley tonight.

#Syracuse Maintenance Division crews assist in #snow removal in the City of Binghamton. This crew has been deployed to Broome County since Friday. ##nyresponds

Overnight, #Thruway Traffic Safety and #Buffalo Maintenance Division assisted National Grid crews who were repairing a fiber line that runs over the Thruway. Crews worked quickly and the Thruway between exit 52A and 53 was reopened in less than 2 hours, earlier than scheduled.

Could be a white Christmas for #WNY. If traveling, keep an eye on the forecast over the next few days.
