First year MS Biomaterials student, Angel Cabrera Pereira, has been busy working on a new study in the @coelholab under Dr. Lukasz Witek’s (@lukaszmwitek) mentorship. Angel is investigating the effect of load/force on particulate bone grafting materials varying in particle size. He is utilizing the labs @formlabs 3D printers to print block models/standards, which are then filled with the respective material, CT scanned, subjected to a pre-defined force using @nyubiomaterials ...Instron and scanned once again post force application. Biomedical Engineer and an Assistant Research Scientist, Shruti Warhadpande (@shrutiwp ) MS, is working with Dr. John T. McDevitt’s Research Group at the Department of Biomaterials. Her background and experience in biotechnology and engineering has made her an essential part of the assay development and microfluidic cartridge engineering team. Shruti’s research is focused on the development of Point-of-Care diagnostic tool for detecting Drugs of Abuse(DOA) designed for two ap...plications- 1) Detecting DOA from oral fluids and 2) field drug identification kit.
