Natives are constantly being overlooked, left and right. A lot of people that I know would like to see more Native representation with models. Read more about Denali White Elk in Vogue Italia, who landed their first job as a model on the cover of the magazine's September issue. #peoplesindigenousday

This video We Will Breathe was created by Marcus Gilmore and Nicholas Payton in response to the aftermath following the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd. It is a tone poem based on the images of Kwame Brathwaite from the 1966 Black Arts Movement. Brathwaite also documented fashion and is a focus of our Insta page today: https://www.instagram.com/nyucostumestudies/. We Will Breathe - Copyright Paytone Records and Kwame Braithwaite Archives
The New York Adventure Club is hosting a webinar tomorrow 10/1 at 7pm titled 1918 x 2020: Global Fashion in the Age of Pandemics. Pajamas have taken center stage these days, from the WFH dress code to the 'Red Carpet' celebrity looks at this year's Emmy Awards. The trend for a 'pajama suit' started around 1911, when they were featured in fashion magazine The Queen. Pajamas were at first worn only as indoor dressing but soon became part of beachwear attire, and even worn as evening wear. Hollywood has had many PJ moments over the years, and back in March, British Vogue curated a list of their favorites throughout the years.
Enjoy Syrian American poet rapper Mona Haydar’s first music video, Hijabi. It is featured alongside breathtaking examples of Muslim style in the "Contemporary Muslim Fashions" exhibit at Cooper-Hewitt. The exhibit explores current Muslim dress, its contribution to the ongoing globalization of fashion and culture, and the designers’ ability to achieve style while keeping in mind modest dressing. Also addressed is the lack of attention given to Muslim fashions by the fashion industry, and how modern Muslim women are addressing it head on.
Because the Precollege course Summer Live had to move to an online format, Museum at FIT produced these videos for high school students enrolled in the program. They are now making them open to the public. Thank you for sharing! #silverlinings #fashionhistory #themuseumatfit
