Share a howl with friends near and far Did you know that wolves howl more frequently to members of their pack with whom they spend the most time? Researchers have found a link between relationship quality and howling frequency. Makes sense! Who in your life would you most often howl with?

Our favorite music Just like us, every wolf has a unique voice, so distinctive features of each individual's howl allow wolves to identify each other. And when every member of the family joins the chorus, the singular howls and their harmonies give the listener the impression that pack is larger than it actually is. Isn't Nikai's voice beautiful!? Today as we remember the extraordinary Martin Luther King Jr, we renew our pledge to keep his dream alive. Dr. King devoted his life to serving others, reminding us that "human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable. Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and strugglethe tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals." Every day, each of us can play a part in continuing this critical work.

FREE WEBINAR! Do wolves really change rivers? Register to find out https://bit.ly/2I7d0E8 Wolves are considered a premier example of how large predators can transform ecosystems, with some suggesting that wolves can literally change the course of rivers and streams through the process of trophic cascades. However, whether wolves change ecosystems as drastically as suggested has been increasingly questioned and criticized. ... As black bears prepare for the barren winter months ahead, trophy hunters are preparing to slaughter them. Trophy hunting of bears is now in full swing in most states, including in New Jersey, where hunters have killed 396 black bears this year. http://bit.ly/2Ir9PH7 New Jersey also allows hunters to kill mothers and cubs - Alaska is the only other state that permits such cruelty.

A much-needed daily dose of cuteness The coastal wolves of British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest live a unique existence along the intertidal zone. Swimming and scavenging (and howling!) along the remote beaches, these wolves are truly a special sight.

A female wolf was illegally killed in Oregon around October 29th. She's the second wolf illegally killed in the state since September. Although wolves in this portion of OR are not considered to be endangered at the federal or state level, wolves are protected under OR's Wolf Plan. The state is home to an estimated 158 gray wolves. Anyone with information regarding the suspect or suspects in this case is asked to contact Oregon State Police through the Turn in Poachers (TIP) hotline at 1-800-452-7888.
