The Oak Tavern

With great sadness, we have been forced to close our doors effective today. We received notice from the State Liquor Authority, after a year of waiting and a lot of money invested, that our application for a permanent liquor license had been denied with no reason why. Upon further investigation, we found a video of a hearing that we were not notified of regarding our application. During this hearing, the Board was distracted and on their phones and emails while deciding our f...uture. Within the four minutes our application was being decided, the Board talked about multiple Executive Order violations that we allegedly had, all of which the Board stated were not proven or charged. This was the sole reason our application was denied. We have put so much time, effort and money into making our tavern a nice place to go and into ensuring our customers are safe and that we are following the regulations and within four minutes and with no evidence of any wrong-doing, the State took away our livelihood and our business. We were told that in 4-6 weeks we would receive a formal letter of denial and we could ask them to reconsider but that it would most likely result in the same outcome. We are very frustrated and saddened as we have grown close relationships with all of our customers and employees and have followed every regulation that has been put into place by the State. We are working on a case to fight against this action but are unsure of the outcome at this point.
