The OAK TREE SHOP 08.11.2020

Good afternoon everyone!! It has been so long since I posted anything on my sight. I know for the most part everyone has been adhering to the COVID-19, rules and regulations, which is good, because that is keeping us here in the north country safe. We have had minor interruptions in our life, but I certainly feel for all the individuals and families that have. At this time I have no plans to open my shop fulltime as I was before. I will only take customers by appointment onl...y. Please call, on my cell, 518-645-0780, and please leave a message, if I don't pick up , and I will get back to you. Please be safe and keep doing what we must do to get through this. I don't believe our lives will be normal , or our new normal , for sometime, but we will get through this. Please pray that we will. Wishing you all the best, and keep sewing, as that is the way to get through sometimes, putting on our creative side, making masks and projects that we have long ago ignored. I have lots of them!! Take care and my best to you all- As always Elaine See more

Challenge Update- I have sent my first quilt to the quilters and I hope to post some pre-quilting pictures and information, soon. It was a project 29 years in the making, but I'm feeling good that #1 project is on the way to completion!! Yeah!!! I hope you are all gathering and working on those projects. While organizing my sewing area the last few days, I have gathered 4 projects to complete. I have them in boxes and numbers of order that I will complete them in. I'm trying ...to complete the oldest one's first- as I feel they deserve to be done!! 29 years is a long time to wait to be completed !! Happy sewing!! As Always- Elaine See more

Good Evening - I know this is a late post, but I am letting you all know that for the remainder of the winter, or at least until the first part of March, I will be closed on Saturday and will only open for appointments. My grandchildren play basketball on Saturday mornings, in various locations and I don't want to miss any. They grow so fast, as you all know about children and grandchildren and this is very important to me. I should be home most Saturdays after 12:30 or so,... but it would be best to call, before coming over. Thank you all for your understanding and I hope to see you soon. Stay safe this weekend. Happy sewing and creating!! As Always- Elaine See more

Good Evening Everyone- We are just a couple of hours away from the start of a new year, and decade. I am so amazed that this is almost the start of the year 2020!! WOW!! I hope that everyone is having a great evening and looking forward to the new year ahead. I have a challenge for all you sewing enthusiasts for the coming year. This is something I plan to do and if you find yourself inclined, I would love for you to join. I have challenged myself to complete at least 20 unf...inished sewing/ or creative projects in the year 2020. They do not all have to be sewing or quilt themed(even though most of mine are unfinished quilt projects, at some stage of construction). I plan to keep a journal of my progress and write things of what I remember when I originally started the project, this will test my memory as some of these, I know, date back 25 years!! I feel that completing at least 20 of these projects in the year 2020 is a good start and I actually have hopes of finishing all my projects and to complete ones that I just have plans for. This will require a lot more time dedicated to sewing ,but this is something I love to do so I accept this challenge for myself and if anyone else would like to join along, please do. I'm calling it "20 in 2020". I will post progress and pictures as I get things done. I will start in earnest on the 2nd. I have totes full of projects. So let the completions begin!! My journal will tell my story of a year of happily sewing and seeing the results! Blessings to you all as we start this New Year and to new adventures. Happy Sewing- As always- Elaine

Good Morning Everyone! Well here we are the week before Christmas and only a couple of weeks to the start of a new year. Time goes by fast! To let everyone know I will have a few miner adjustments to my hours this week. On Tuesday I will be closing at 4 p.m. to attend calling hours for a Family friend that has passed away. Please include all people in your prayers this holiday season, that has lost someone this year or is going through difficult times. Going through those fi...rst holidays without the ones we love are hard. On Wednesday I will be opening late, at 11:30 a.m., so that I can attend my Grand Children's Christmas concert. I love seeing and hearing these children. I am very blessed to have them in my life. I hope that everyone is getting those projects done, but if you can't get to it, don't worry- there is always time later. You have to decide what is more important, and my sanity always wins!! Don't stress, enjoy the Christmas Season and remember it will still be there!!!. when you get back to it. Have a Great Day and Happy Sewing! As Always- Elaine See more

I hope everyone is enjoying this Christmas season and is not too stressed out with last minute sewing projects!! We all tend to leave it to the end, but that's how I usually op...erate!! Good Morning Everyone! Well winter has started, well lets hope that is has a slow start and this is just a tease to what might be coming way...down the road!! I am open ,but I will not be plowed out until late this afternoon. I haven't yet mastered the snow blower, so I to wait to my Husband is home, for help. With the snow amounts and road conditions it would be safe to stay home, find some stash and start sewing. Christmas is coming and projects to do, and I still have a fe...w blocks to make for the BOM for the Quilt Guild, so there is lots to do! Please stay safe and I hope to see you soon. Don't forget Quilt Guild on Wednesday the 13th. Still time to join for this year. Happy Sewing!! As always- Elaine See more
